Day 29
"My Song of Songs"
1. My heart is filled with melody,
To Christ my Lord my very life belongs.
Since He came in I cannot help
But ever sing My Songs of Songs.
Chorus
My Song of Songs is Christ my Savior,
Of Him my heart shall ever sing.
He fills my life with joyous melody,
My Song of Songs is Jesus.
2. To think that Jesus died for me,
My heart is filled with never ending praise.
I want my life to glorify
The Savior’s name thru all my days.
Chorus
My Song of Songs is Christ my Savior,
Of Him my heart shall ever sing.
He fills my life with joyous melody,
My Song of Songs is Jesus.

My heart is filled with melody,
John was a great writer of melodies. Since he loved melodies and he loved Jesus, it is no wonder that this would be the lead line in the song that in my estimation sums up his life.
The word “melody” is used only a couple of times in the Bible.
Sing praises to the LORD with the lyre, With the lyre and the sound of melody. (Psalm 98:5)
Indeed, the LORD will comfort Zion; He will comfort all her waste places And her wilderness He will make like Eden, And her desert like the garden of the LORD; Joy and gladness will be found in her, Thanksgiving and sound of a melody. (Isaiah 51:3)
“Speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; (Ephesians 5:19)
Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. (NKJV) (Psalm 33:2)
To Christ my Lord my very life belongs.
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
Since He came in I cannot help
But ever sing My Songs of Songs.
The Lord is my song!
Three times the scriptures repeat the same thing: The Lord is my song!
The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him. (Exodus 15:;2)
The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation. (Psalm 118:14)
Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The LORD, the LORD, is my strength and my song; he has become my salvation." (Isaiah 12:2)
Psalm 40 describes what happens when God changes a person’s life:
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD. (Psalm 40:2-3)
Of Him my heart shall ever sing.
He fills my life with joyous melody,
Luke 6:45 Jesus said, “The good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth what is good; and the evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth what is evil; for his mouth speaks from that which fills his heart.”
Isaiah 42:10 Sing to the LORD a new song, his praise from the ends of the earth, you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who live in them.
I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul shall make its boast in the LORD;
The humble shall hear of it and be glad.
Oh, magnify the LORD with me,
And let us exalt His name together. (Psalm 34:1-3)
Psalm 9:2 I will be glad and exult in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.
My heart is filled with never ending praise.
"You have turned for me my mourning into dancing;
You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,
That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent
O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever." (Psalm 30:11-12)
“My mouth is filled with Your praise
And with Your glory all day long.” (Psalm 71:8)
