“Jesus, Draw Near”

1. Lord, draw near and with Thy pow’r
Bind us closer in this hour;
Through Thy Word, O Spirit divine,
Cleanse and make us wholly Thine.


Refrain:

Jesus, draw near,
Jesus, draw near,
Cleanse me, O Saviour, and fill with Thy Spirit,
O Jesus, Thyself, draw near, draw near, just now.


2. Lord, draw near and enter in
Ev- ‘ry heart, so filled with sin;
Hear us now, O Saviour, we pray,
Ev- ‘ry stain now wash away.

This prayer song written by Ruth and John was one of their heart cries. They both walked in a close relationship with Jesus, but, even so, this was their prayer. It was also the prayer, as mentioned in verse 2, that people come to know Jesus as their personal Savior.

What a great prayer for all of us….to draw near to God and be filled with His Spirit.

Hebrews 10:22 instructs: “let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.”

James 4:8: “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”

Let us do that….but I believe we can make this a prayer request, too: “Jesus, draw near.”
