“My lungs expand with his praise.”

Let’s revisit Psalm 34:1  “I will bless the LORD at all times; His praise shall continually be  in my mouth."

Not only am “I” the one who chooses to “bless the Lord” but I “will” – this is an act of my will.  Yes, “I” can do it, but is not necessarily of my own will.  “I” can do things as a result of peer pressure or some other factor.  When I make a conscious choice to do something because I voluntarily choose to do so, it makes whatever I am doing sincere, genuine and real!

I make the choice to bless the Lord at all times!  I bless Him when I feel like it or not; when I am sad or glad; alert or sleepy; winning or losing….”at all times.”

And…His praise will continually be in my mouth.  Continue….something that does not stop….or “sit” or is “on hold,” but  always in my mouth.

“I will always thank the Lord; I will never stop praising him.”  Good News Translation

“I bless God every chance I get; my lungs expand with his praise.”   The Message

I like that….”my lungs expand with his praise.” Think of praising the Lord every time your lungs expand!  That would be praising the Lord always…continually!

So, how often have you taken a breath while you have been reading this?  Probably a few times!
Now, as you go about the rest of the day, or if you are about to go to sleep, think of praising the Lord each times your lungs expand!

Let’s do as The Message’s paraphrase of this verse says:

“I bless God every chance I get; my lungs expand with his praise.”
