“John C. Hallett has won national recognition as choral director, pianist, composer and arranger. This is his first record release.
A native of Binghamton, N.Y., John Hallett began his musical career at the age of six by studying piano at the Binghamton conservatory. Later training included organ, harmony, conducting and composition. He studied at Moody Bible Institute and New York University. He was also a student of the Fred Waring Master Conductor’s course under Peter Wilkowski. Hallett is now a student and associate of the internationally known conductor and composer, Eric Leidzen, who is responsible for many arrangements sung by the Chorale on this album. Mr. Leidzen attended the recording sessions.
Many of Mr. Hallett’s choruses and Gospel songs have been published by the Rodeheaver Publishing Company and are sung wherever Christians gather.
John Hallett has served as Music Director at the Philadelphia Bible Institute and the Northeastern Bible Institute. He has also been Music Director of the Children’s Bible Hour of Grand Rapids, Mich. On the ABC network. He has likewise served numerous churches as minister of music, among them the well-known Brookdale Baptist of Bloomfield, N.J. He now conducts music seminars and clinics all over America.
The Chorale heard on this album was organized by the Director in 1960. It is made up of 30 singers and instrumentalists. All are dedicated Christians from various occupations including ministers, teachers, students, business men, engineers and housewives. Most live in the Metropolitan New York city area. The group includes nine band and choral directors.
The Chorale is busily engaged in concretizing. Dedicated to Christ, the Chorale states its purpose as: “To sing and play worthy sacred music with skillful artistry that would bring Glory to God.”
